[Please print these instructions and make sure you are connected to the internet
for the whole procedure!]
Access this
link: Windows XP (Ctrl+Left mouse click)
: Older Windows Programs (left mouse click)
Begin Java software download for Windows
*Once you have
selected the link click save (please make sure you save this to your desktop.)
*Open the application from
your desktop and follow the instructions. Press run, it then will ask you ‘would
you like to install?’ press ‘yes’ agree to terms and condition. Once complete
press ‘OK’
*Once the application has been
completed it will ask you to restart your computer. Please make sure you have
saved any open documents before restarting your computer!
*Restart your computer.
* Once you have turned on your
computer again – click start,
control panel (top left should
display “classic view”) if it displays categories change to the ‘classic view’,
select internet options –
Advanced tab, scroll down to Java
(Sun) [make sure there is NO tick in this box] then on the option below it
(Microsoft VM) please make sure that the 3rd tick box has been ticked
(JIT Compiler…). See Below. Click ‘apply’ then ‘ok’
Microsoft Virtual
Machine should now be installed.
