21st March 2007
Dear Parents,
As you are aware we have had new door locks put on the hall doors, which has resulted in us having to change the access door for Reception children. We have found this change is causing congestion and a health and safety issue when Reception parents leave prams and push chairs in the main entrance.
We have decided to try a new approach. As from Monday 26th March we want Reception parents to use the Foundation Link Corridor entrance (white doors) which you access through the Nursery Playground. Please leave your pushchairs and prams in the Nursery playground when you take your child into class. The Reception children will continue to be dismissed through the red hall doors at the end of the school day ( 3.20). We had planned that after the Easter break (April) we would be getting the children in Reception to line up in the playground like the other children in school. BUT if the use of the link doors works, we would like Reception children to use this entrance through out the summer term thus allowing parents to continue to meet and talk to reception staff each morning.
Years one and two will continue to use the normal doors. Can I remind parents not to follow children into school at the start of the school day, please say goodbye to children in years 1 to 6 in the playground as it creates congestion in the corridors.
Thank you for your help with this matter, we need to find the most effective way into school following the changes in regulations regarding fire doors.
Yours sincerely,
N.J. Edge
