8TH June 2007

Dear Parent/Carers

Your child/ren’s school has just been informed that it is about to be inspected.

Inspectors will spend up to two days in the school observing lessons, talking to staff and pupils, analysing data and discussing emerging issues with senior managers. The inspection culminates in a written report that governors are expected to send to you. The reports, which are written with you in mind, will also be available on the internet.

If the school has gathered your views as part of a regular check that it makes to see how well it is providing for your children, the results will be shared with inspectors during the inspection.  Your views are very important to us so inspectors would also like to hear directly from you.  We appreciate that we have not given you very much time, but it would be very helpful if you could complete the attached questionnaire in confidence and return it as quickly as you can to the inspection team, in a sealed envelope if possible. You are welcome to note any additional information you wish on the back of the form.

If, for any reason, you feel you would like to talk to an inspector in person, it should be possible to organise this. If you would like to meet an inspector, or talk to an inspector on the telephone please contact Tribal Education on 0845 1236001. Your details will be taken and passed on to the inspection team. An inspector will call you as soon as possible.  The inspector will want to hear your comments, but may not be able to enter into a lengthy discussion or give an opinion on the points you raise. Anything that you say will be treated in confidence; issues resulting from the discussion may be raised with the school but your name will not be revealed.

If questionnaires are returned by at least half way through the inspection, the inspectors will be able to use the replies to guide the inspection of the school. The report will be brief and may not include direct reference to any individual comments, but inspectors will try to reflect any patterns of responses they receive from registered parents or carers.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the questionnaire. You should receive a report giving you the outcomes of the inspection within three weeks of the end of the inspection.

Yours sincerely,

K. Davies
